Check It. Middle Brother.

Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes is one of the best young musicians out there. He's joined forces with John McCauley of Deer Tick and Delta Spirit's Matthew Vasquez to form Middle Brother. Time Out Chicago calls them an "Americana Supergroup" and that sounds about right to me.

They made a splash at SXSW this year after debuting at the annual Austin, Texas film and music festival last year. Their self-titled debut album was released March 1.

Advance Notice. Dawes at Saturdays Off the 405.

It's July 1--a perfect time to start planning some fun summer events to attend in Los Angeles. The Saturdays Off the 405 series kicks off on July 10 at the Getty Center with Dawes. This is a band whose maturity and talent beyond their years is continually impressive.

Their debut album, North Hills, came out last summer, and has a couple songs on it that I listen to at least twice in a row when they come on my iPod (That Western Skyline, When You Call My Name).

The concert is in the museum courtyard from 6 - 9 p.m., and parking is free after 5--but the concert is also free, and first-come-first-served, so arriving before 5 to beat the 'free parking' rush might be a wise idea if you want to guarantee entrance (and a Saturday night of truly good music).

Saturday July 10 at 6:00 p.m.

The Getty Center is located at 1200 Getty Center Drive in Los Angeles.
