Adele's "Make You Feel My Love" is on a compilation charity CD, Songs for Japan, that I picked up at a Best Buy in Montreal last week and have been listening to non-stop. Other tracks include John Lennon's "Imagine", Bob Dylan's "Shelter from the Storm", and Eminem Featuring Rihanna's "Love the Way You Lie".

Los Angeles shows Monday June 6 and Thursday June 9.

If you're not going to make it to Coachella 2011 but you're itching for a fun concert experience, check out the Railroad Revival Tour when it stops in San Pedro, Calif. on April 22.

Mumford & Sons (a recent radio favorite), Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show (who are fantastic live) will tour the American Southwest over the course of a week, playing six outdoor shows, and traveling exclusively in vintage railcars.

Presale begins today at 9:00 a.m., and tickets are officially on sale March 9 at 9:00 a.m. through Front Gate Tickets.

Do It. The Decemberists at the Wiltern.

The Decemberists are playing the Wiltern this Saturday night. I've seen them a few times, and can confirm they put on a good show. This one's sold out, but there are plenty of listings on Craigslist, and I imagine some scalpers will be outside the venue.

Their latest album, The King is Dead, was released in January with great reviews.

December 12 at 8:00 p.m. The Wiltern is located at 3790 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Advance Notice. Alkaline Trio at Alex's.

The hardcore band Alkaline Trio will be making a stop at Long Beach's best dive bar next week, and those interested should get their tickets pronto.

Alex's Bar will be hosting Alkaline Trio Nov. 13 for $20. If you're not into hardcore at all, Alex's has other surprisingly big-name bands stop by. The Bronx and The Donnas have been known to play there.

Some highlights this month include Mr. Mister Miyagi, a karaoke back-up band, which is always fun. Mr. Mister Miyagi goes on stage Dec. 4. It's worth checking back in to Alex's calendar because they often have very good bands last minute or with little announcement.

Do It. Ray LaMontagne at the Greek.

Ray LaMontagne is coming to the Greek Theatre with David Gray on September 8, and I suggest you get tickets for it. They went on sale Saturday, and aren't sold out yet.

I've seen him three times--first at the Troubadour in 2006 (above), at the Orpheum, and at the Hollywood Bowl last summer. In settings both tiny and large (and somewhere in between--the Orpheum) he was touchingly good. All of his songs are enjoyable, and he sings from the heart. "Trouble", "Shelter", and "You Are the Best Thing" are favorites. David Gray's "This Year's Love" is a hit that has maintained appeal after over ten years, and would be great to hear live.

Outdoor summer concerts in Los Angeles are really fun, and it should still be warm enough in early September to drag summer on bit longer by going to see LaMontagne on a Wednesday night.

Plan on attending, you'll be so glad you did.

Do It. Hot Hot Heat.

Starting this month the Hot Hot Heat will be taking up a month-long residency at The Fold in Silverlake to celebrate it's soon-to-be-released album Future Breeds, coming out June 8.

Each Wednesday the band from Vancouver will take the stage, although whether their set list for each day will change is unclear. Tickets are $12.

My new favorite artist Thao will also be performing at The Fold June 7. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door.

Advance Notice. Swell Season, the Bird and the Bee, and She & Him.

All three of these very talented bands will be appearing together at the Hollywood Bowl July 18, and because of their popularity tickets are going to be snatched up pretty quickly.

Seats are to the show are pretty reasonable between the $10-$55 range.
