Check It. David Sedaris archives.

"Liking" something on Facebook can be a mixed bag. You can be inundated with updates, or totally forget that you "liked" something and never get good updates.

David Sedaris' Facebook page, however, is excellent. It both posts his book tour dates and, more interestingly, posts archived Sedaris readings from live performances and appearances on This American Life from the 1990s, when I at least was not yet a Sedaris fanatic.

Today's gem was a show on wackiness. Enjoy!

Check it. 'Bad Writing.'

In his movie, "Bad Writing" Vernon Lott gets authors like Margaret Atwood, David Sedaris, George Saunders, and Aimee Bender to comment on his poetry and -- more broadly -- what makes bad writing just so bad.

"Bad Writing" opened to select theaters last Friday and is playing at Lammele's Sunset 5.

Lammele's is located at 8000 Sunset Blvd.

Check It. David Sedaris' 'Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk.'

Famous and skillful satirist David Sedaris just came out with a new book of illustrated animal stories, which he has been careful to qualify as far from fables.

These stories about a baboon grooming a cat or two storks talking about where babies come from arn't necessarily filled with Aesop-like moral tales, but are just illustrated tales from the mind of Sedaris.

NPR recently had Sedaris read one of his stories on the air (as only David Sedaris can) and published another sample of the new book on its website.

It's really difficult for me to try and plan anything beyond, say, this weekend, but I might have to give in and mark down some busy days for me six months ahead of time. That's because UCLA Live has just announced its 2010/2011 season, and some really great events are in the works.

And then there's David Sedaris. If you've never listened to the popular author speak or tell his stories in person, you're in for an absolute treat. He'll be at Royce Hall April 27, and it's definitely worth planning ahead for.

Do It. David Sedaris at the Long Beach Convention Center.

David Sedaris is best known for writing hilariously witty and charming books like Me Talk Pretty One Day and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, but did you know that he's even better (dare we say funnier?) in person? With endless amounts of personal and fictional tales, pitch-perfect comedic timing and a signature voice, Sedaris is actually quite the riveting live performer.

Find out for yourself (and get ready for a night of eye-watering laughter) as Sedaris takes the stage at the Terrace Theater at the Long Beach Convention Center tomorrow. Tickets are still available (unlike for his UCLA date on Wednesday, so this is obviously a hot ticket!) for $25-$45, and Sedaris is sure not to disappoint. Plus, with a new book rumored to be released this October, this could be a chance to hear some of his new work before anyone else.
