It's time to say goodbye to a good friend. LCD Soundsystem is officially and gracefully bowing out this weekend, after nine years and three unforgettable albums. And although that sad farewell is set to take place this Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, we here in L.A. too have a chance to send our farewells.
Pitchfork will be broadcasting the at-least-three-hour show live on its website. So get dressed in all white (as was the requested dress code for the live audience), turn up the speakers and have a down and dirty dance show. It's the least you can do.
Thanks James Murphy and Co.!
"A Long Goodbye" will be taking place on Pitchfork at 6pm PST. For a primer before the show, be sure to check out Pitchfork's extensive history, track-by-track, of the band here.

Check It. LCD Soundsystem's "The London Sessions."
Anyone who's ever seen LCD Soundsystem live knows what an incredible experience it is. There's an added energy and fervor that come from James Murphy and Co. that just can't be felt through their recordings (lthough of course, those recordings are already amazing as they are). But there's just something raw and fierce and undeniably fun when the band gets out from behind the computers to embark on their instruments and get into it.So now, in just another effort to completely blow our minds, the group's recorded a live session. Tracked in one day back on June 29, 2010, "The London Sessions" is a 9-song set featuring what could be called the band's greatest hits, from "Daft Punk is Playing in My House" to "All My Friends" and "Pow Pow."
Ever since Murphy mused that This is Happening will probably be the last official LCD Soundsystem album, everyone's been wondering if we'll see much of the group in the future. Make this your keepsake; you won't want to forget how much fun you had dancing to it.
"The London Sessions" is available on iTunes beginning today until Dec. 6.
Also, check out LCD Soundsystem's newest video for "Pow Pow" featuring Up in the Air's Anna Kendrick.

Advance Notice. Treasure Island Music Festival.
While the Treasure Island Music Festival isn't in Los Angeles, it's definitely becoming one of those annual events more than worth the road trip. Set on the tiny island just off the shore of the San Francisco Bay, the music and arts fest is small, but better for it because it actually allows you to see all the acts in the line-up. And that line-up? It just happens to be getting better and better each year.To wit, this year's just-announced line-up for October boasts LCD Soundsystem headlining Saturday's more electronic-influenced group of performers like Deadmaus and Miike Snow, and the just-back-on-tour Belle & Sebastian leading a more indie program of The National and She & Him on Sunday. Check out the rest of the bands here.
The event takes place October 16 and 17th, but specially priced early-bird two-day tickets go on sale TODAY at 10am for $99. Once that limited quantity sells out, they'll be $119.50. Or you can wait until Friday for advance one-day tickets for $67.50 each. Buy them soon; the fest is sure to sell-out, and you need to plan that fun road trip of yours anyway.

Advance Notice. LCD Soundsystem and the xx.
The post-Coachella L.A. dates for bands are starting to roll in. To start us off with a bang, there's new dates from LCD Soundsystem (see: amazing video above) and the xx.
Electro-pop minimalists the xx are bringing their gloomy-with-an-ounce-of-optimism sound to two different venues this June: they're set to play the Henry Fonda Music Box on Sat., June 5th ($22.50), and the much-larger Wiltern on Sun., June 6th ($25). Expect the young threesome to have really mastered their instruments and live skills by now; and a short set considering their debut album clocks in at less than 40 minutes (they're known to do a few covers, though). Tickets for both shows are set to go on sale TODAY at 10 a.m.
On the near-opposite side of the spectrum, party starters LCD Soundsystem to the Hollywood Palladium on Fri., June 4th ($30) and to the Fox Theater in Pomona on Sat., June 5th ($25). The mid-sized venues are perfect to get your dance on, and for whatever shenanigans James Murphy and Co. are sure to bring; everyone's been raving about "Yeah"'s epic set-ending performance this past Saturday. Both concerts go on sale officially on Friday at 10 a.m. but there's also a Goldenvoice presale for the Fox date happening TODAY at 10 a.m., and a Live Nation presale for the Palladium on tomorrow at 10 a.m.
Both shows are sure to sell out--as the just-announced Local Natives show at the Troubadour on June 4th did after one day--and with them all coincidentally occurring on the same weekend (and going on sale at the same time!), you'll have to play your cards right. Either way, though, you can't really go wrong. Summer can't come quickly enough.
