Click It. BEAT picks of the week.

How beautiful does Jessica Chastain look on the cover of T Magazine? A great loose blowout, a strong red lip, and a pretty yellow dress is such a perfect spring look. This Reese Witherspoon red carpet look from 2007 is still one of my favorites.

A simple recipe for cinnamon-sugar pecans. I made these for a party Saturday night and they were a hit!

Speaking of easy recipes ... enjoy the end of grapefruit season with a Greyhound!

HBO's "Girls" premieres tonight.

Today at brunch I had arepas for the first time, and became an instant fan. Jonathan Gold divulges where to find in L.A.

Eat In. Malo's Ground Beef and Pickle Taco.

Silverlake's Malo has a new sister restaurant that just opened up in downtown, called Mas Malo, that's creating a ton of buzz right now. But if you can't get a reservation, and are still craving those delicious tacos, enjoy some at home!

Malo's own Robert Luna divulged his secrets of the ground beef and pickle taco to KCET. Check out the recipe below:

Eat In. Red velvet brain cupcakes.

Now that just sounds delicious, doesn't it? Halloween sure is a great excuse to get creative, and the fun doesn't have to stop at your costume. Think about all the fun, creepy-crawly foods and desserts you can think of -- the bloody punch, the grape eyeballs.

But while getting creative, you want to make sure the food tastes good too! I nabbed this recipe from the Food Network's latest star, Anne Thorton of "Dessert First with Anne Thornton." Her show is set to premiere this Sunday, but if you want a taste of what's sure to come, here's her fun take on red velvet cupcakes. Brain-licking good?

Eat In. Open-Face tuna and guacamole sandwich.

Here's a great recipe idea for a snack or a quick and easy lunch or even light weeknight dinner. I would order it often at the deli counter when Malibu Kitchen was Mary's Kitchen, but now make it at home.

Ingredients:

Sliced Sourdough Bread

Guacamole

Tuna Salad

Lightly toast your favorite sourdough bread, spread on a thin layer of guacamole, and top with a scoop of tuna salad (the Gelson's deli makes great tuna). Using a fork, make sure the tuna covers the whole surface of the toast, and then salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy the open-face sandwich!

Eat In. French breakfast brie sandwiches.

I'd like to consider myself a relatively healthy person. I eat raw vegetables, fruits, and nuts. I run at least 5 miles almost every day. But sometimes, you really just need to let loose, and the weekends are the perfect time to make a delicious, but possibly heart-stopping sandwich.

This sandwich requires just a few things: sourdough bread, Trader Joe's mulitgrain sourdough is phenomenal, jam (I think raspberry works best, but orange marmalade works fine, too), and brie. Mmm. Oh, and some butter.

OK. So just slice very thin pieces of brie to outline your sandwich and spread your jam before heating the pan, but also spread some butter on the other side of the bread so it doesn't stick to the pan -- a bit tricky. The next part needs to be quick. Plop in your jam-spread bread, butter side down then place the pieces of brie so they will melt covering all the sandwich.

Then just cook like a regular grilled cheese. The results are amazing. This is an excellent breakfast sandwich and it's good as leftovers, since the oils in the cheese seep into the bread.

The one pictured above has turkey, but I like mine meatless.

Make It. Cookie mix [Gift Guide].

For those who have waited 'til the last minute, here's a quick, easy Christmas present to give friends and coworkers. This is actually perfect for the completely antidomestic person, because these people probably have all these ingredients sitting unopened, in their cupboard now, waiting for the day when they're actually in the mood to bake.

It's also nice for The Person Who Has Everything, because they probably love cookies or bread just as much as The Person Who Needs Everything.

Find a cookie or bread recipe and print as many copies as you have friends who you haven't yet bought gifts for. You'll probably need things like all-purpose flour, chocolate chips, baking soda, maybe yeast.

Take a clean Ball jar and measure out in water how much volume is in half a cup, a full cup and pour the water into the Ball jar. Draw the measurements onto the Ball jar with a colorful permanent marker. That way when your cookie/bread/scone/pastry-of-some-kind mix is all used up, your gift recipient has a brand new measuring device.

I used coins of various sizes to measure the circles where the measurements were.

Place all the dried ingredients from your recipe into the Ball jar, keeping them separate to create a cool layering effect. Obviously, don't add wet or perishable ingredients, because those will spoil and giving someone rotten food would be a horrible gift.

Tie the recipe to the ingredients with colorful ribbon and you're good to go!

Eat In. Mom's Pound Cake.

My mom used to be a cooking teacher when she lived in Vietnam, but like any real cook, she doesn't have any written-in-stone recipes to show it off.

Except! For this one gem. I don't know why, but it's the only recipe she ever needs to look at whenever she makes it (I know, baking takes precision, but she bakes without recipes all the time!), and it's probably one of the most basic, easy and popular recipes ever.

But I digress. These days, the holiday pound cake baking comes down to me (sadly, I am no cook, but I can bake a mean cookie), so happy holidays, Beats, here is the Tu Family Recipe.
