Check It. Beastie Boys' "Make Some Noise."

There's been a lot of buzz about "Fight for Your Right (Revisited)," the short film by the Beastie Boys' Adam "MCA" Yauch that's supposed to follow the group's memorable "Fight for Your Right" video from 1986. And now we've got a sneak peek at the film with the Beastie Boys' new video for the new song "Make Some Noise," featured above.

You may have already seen pictures that showed that the Beastie Boys were being cleverly portrayed by Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen and Danny McBride in the film, but this new five-minute clip shows the immense amount of star power behind the project -- I don't think there's a shot of anyone that isn't a celebrity. Try to catch them all, as a great way to kick off your weekend.

The entire "Fight for Your Right (Revisited)" short film is expected to premiere on MTV2 on April 27.
**UPDATE: You can now stream the whole short film on Hulu?

Check It. Radiohead's "Lotus Flower" [The Monday Download].

So Radiohead surprised us all again by releasing their newest album, King of Limbs, a day earlier than expected. So if you haven't had the record on repeat all weekend, it's time to start. Download for $9 (a steal! -- it's Radiohead, after all) here.

And be sure not to miss out on this ever-mesmerizing video for first single, "Lotus Flower." Thom Yorke never ceases to amaze.

...And if you have seen that already, check out this special (hilarious) twist.

Check It. The White Stripes [The Monday Download].

In case you didn't hear, The White Stripes have called it quits. A letter was posted on their website last week, stating that the band has officially ended, and there are no plans for further new recordings or plans to play live.

In their 13-years-or-so run, Jack and Meg surely made their mark on the music scene. Time to reminisce on the greatness of their art:

What are some of your favorite White Stripes memories?

Check It. Aloe Blacc's "Femme Fatale" [The Monday Download].

You've probably heard the inescapably catchy "I Need a Dollar" by Aloe Blacc, but the L.A. based artist has also made a classy cover of The Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale" that's definitely worth listening to. And hey, the video has L.A. all over it -- can you recognize all the spots? The city has almost never been sexier.

Check It. Gorillaz Advent Calendar.

I've already mentioned how much I enjoyed Gorillaz's Plastic Beach album from this past year, and right now, Damon Albarn and Co. are just continuing the awesomeness. Earlier this month they unveiled a Gorillaz Advent Calendar on their website, releasing goodies day-by-day in traditional holiday fashion.

Among the treats already revealed? A behind-the-scenes video of a Gorillaz soundcheck (it's fun to see what goes on behind their great live show!), Jamie Hewlett desktop wallpaper, a music video featuring Plastic Beach guest star Snoop Dogg, and even a Gorillaz-themed online game called Submatronic.

But alas, the best reason to keep opening the little doors will be final days of calendar, when the band is set to release a music video for a new song on the 24th, and on Christmas, the entire new album from which that song comes from. A brand spanking new Gorillaz album (recorded entirely on an iPad, by the way. Get the whole story here) -- oh and for free too! Happy Christmas to us!

Check It. Coconut Records' "West Coast" video [The Monday Download].

An oldie, but oh such a goodie. I was reminded of this song -- one of my absolute favorites -- this past weekend, and was more than happy to revisit the just-as-good video companion. Coconut Records, of course, is the solo music project for actor Jason Schwartzman, and this particular song was featured on the debut album, Nighttiming. The video doesn't feature Schwartzman, but instead follows well-known skateboarder Mark Gonzales as he whizzes through Germany in 1998. It sounds non sequitur, but it's actually strangely hypnotic and beautiful. Perfect way to start off the week.

Check It. Snoop Dogg's "Oh Sookie" music video [The Monday Download].

Already off to a strong start in the summer TV season is none other than True Blood, the modern vampire story actually worth your time. The season 3 premiere last Sunday boasted a 40% increase in ratings, and you can bet Snoop Dogg was watching.

Yes, Snoop Dogg. The d-o-double-g already name-checked his vampire loyalties in the earlier radio hit "Gangsta Luv"--"It's like True Blood/I sink my teeth in"--but now he's going all out in his fangbanger love. Check out this inescapably hilarious ode to True Blood damsel Sookie Stackhouse, and keep your ears tuned for the Tara shout-out.

Check It. Kid Cudi's music videos [The Monday Download].

Now that his acting debut How to Make It in America has finished its season on HBO, are you missing Kid Cudi yet? You shouldn't, because he's got a slew of videos to keep you company in the meantime.

Admittedly, it was the rapper's "Day 'n' Nite" video that first got me interested in his music; his cool, laidback style in the cut proved he wasn't just out to be another club-banger, but a more thoughtful (and stylish) and playful wordsmith. His immediate cinematic follow-ups were pretty to the norm, from the live concert footage to the Hype Williams-biting (but still cute). His latest ones, though, have been a lot more fun.

The first is typical music video fare, with the hot girls and the senseless, fun theme, but the fact that Cudi's actually doing a music video to the remix of one of his songs is pretty sweet. Definitely playful, and a great to-the-beat cut from the video editor.

Here's the winner though: an alternate version, as it seems, of "Pursuit of Happiness." The song originally got a lot of hype because of the unexpected collaboration with MGMT and Ratatat, and now, this video finally brings the partnership to visual fruition (or at least, for the latter). Plus--visual effects!

So his videos can be hit or miss, but they're entertaining in the least, and hey, he ain't bad to look at it either.

Check It. Mayer Hawthorne's "I Left My Heart in San Francisco."

One of my favorite musical discoveries of last year was Mayer Hawthorne, a soft-voiced crooner bringing a retro sound to modern soul. His debut album, A Strange Arrangement, was full of fun and sweet doo-wop tunes, garnering him fans from tastemakers like Mark Ronson and the overzealous like John Mayer. What I've really come to love about Mayer Hawthorne, though, is how diverse he is.

For one, he and his back-up band, the County, are currently on tour with another hipster fave of 2009, electronic pop band Passion Pit. The tour ends next week in San Francisco (although he'll also hit Coachella on the 18th), and to commemorate the event, MH has recorded a cover of Tony Bennett's "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." It's an appropriate tribute, and completely fits his style, but even made more awesome by the accompanying skaterific video:

Soul and skateboarding--who knew? ...Mayer Hawthorne. The song is being released via a heart-shaped USB drive (aww) with a specially designed T-shirt, which you can purchase here.

And on another note, MH also recently remixed the latest Snoop classic, "Gangsta Luv." And yes, it totally works. Consider me swooned.

Check It. Local Natives [The Monday Download].

I was pretty bummed about missing SXSW yet again this year, but thanks to a little live streaming via NPR and KCRW, I still got to enjoy listening to some great tunes. One particularly awesome set was played by one of my new favorite bands, Local Natives, for NPR Music's Day Party at the Parish, which you can listen to here.

But if that doesn't already endear you to the (yep!) locally based band (Silver Lake, to be exact), then the following videos should. Probably inspired by the amazing Take-Away Shows from La Blogotheque (more praise about that to come another time), these creative and beautifully plotted videos take the indie rock band away from the usual stage to perform acoustic versions of songs from their intricate, soaring debut Gorilla Manor. From an alleyway to a barnhouse to an abandoned room in a high-rise, the videos do a great job of not only capturing music in a different atmosphere but also highlighting the innate talent of the band who can adapt to surroundings and still sound so darn good even in these situations.

In short, these videos are wonderful pieces in and of themselves, but also give a talented band its justice.

Check It. Mika's "Kick-Ass" music video [Guest Post].

The patron saint for lost boys and girls (who want to stay lost) assembles yet another dance-youth anthem, this time with GaGa’s RedOne tucked into his shiny tailcoat pocket.

Curly locked pop-sensation Mika helms the title-track and the promotional buzz for upcoming super-hero comedy flick Kick-Ass, due out in theaters April 16. The music video premiered yesterday and is making its way through the blog circuit faster than a speeding bullet. After all, this is a superhero movie...or is it?

The cast of pimple-faced pseudo-heroes is led by relative newbie Aaron Johnson (The Illusionist) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin’ to us). These crimefighters opt for DIY-costumes and goofy theatrics, but are on that noble quest to achieve what every nerd dreams of–chicks. You’ll find yourself wondering why Nicolas Cage is in this movie, and why his ass isn’t the one being kicked. It's a mystery that looms overhead like a Bat Signal with a blown fuse, so while I go solve that crime against cinema, enjoy "Kick-Ass."

Do It. OK Go Video Release Party at LACMA.

As far as self-marketing goes, OK Go's got to be the smartest band around. It's been years since anyone's witnessed a full music video on MTV, but OK Go has almost single-handedly kept the idea and essence of the music video alive, thanks to a little fun and a LOT of creativity.

And 'here they go again.' OK Go teamed up with Synn Labs and director James Frost for the new clip for "This Too Shall Pass," which literally throws the band into a crazy Rube Goldberg machine located inside a huge abandoned warehouse in Echo Park. Fun and overall mind-blows ensue.

But the fun doesn't stop there! OK Go is celebrating the release of the video with a little philanthropy in mind. They'll be on hand at LACMA this Friday for a special video release event, where bassist Tim Norwind will DJ, the new video will be screened followed by a Q&A with the band, pieces from the Rube Goldberg set will be on display, AND the band will play a rare acoustic set. There are also apparently 'photo opportunities' and a cash bar. The catch: you have to be a LACMA member to attend, but if you are one, it's only $25. Plus, it obviously all goes to a good cause (LACMA's Muse program specifically, which supports young artists).

Either way, you can still go viral and watch the video, which hey, we can embed here (thanks to frontman Damien Kulash, apparently):

Applause, indeed.

Check It. Gorillaz's "Stylo" video.

The advent of the 'virtual band' a la Gorillaz is nothing short of ingenious--it breeds a sort of creativity that sees no bounds, from allowing your music to take on its own strange personalities to giving you an excuse to use holograms at live shows. Technology is particularly something Gorillaz loves to employ, and this has only become more obvious with the release of their latest video, for the amazing "Stylo"--which features the Gorillaz threesome (minus Russell) IN 3-D.

No, it's not on some Avatar-level or anything like that, but the characters look pretty awesome as they take off in a classic thrilling desert car chase. Oh, and Bruce Willis shows up, in all his old-school, tough-guy glory. It's nothing short of badass.

Also, you can stream Gorillaz's new album, Plastic Beach, right now on NPR.com. It'll be released next week.

Check It. Vampire Weekend's "Giving Up the Gun" video.

Nothing like a good cameo start off your morning. My future hubby Jake Gyllenhaal is no stranger to making surprise appearances in fun, fantastic all-star music videos, but when Ron Howard shows up to party, you get a bit overshadowed.

This time around, Gyllenhaal gets his time to shine--and takes advantage with an amazing pants rip-off. Other notable celeb pop-ups: a grungy (but quite adult?)-looking Joe Jonas, a stoic RZA, Lil Jon shilling out advice, and of course, the boys of Vampire Weekend, who strangely look more pretty than usual.
