Eat In. Candy Cane Swirl.

From baking (gingerbread cookies!) to clothing (Christmas sweaters!), the holidays just make everything better. But now that it's the weekend, let's add some alcoholic drinks to the mix!

Now normally, I'd just take the lazy route and add some peppermint schnapps to a steaming cup of hot cocoa (topped with an abundant amount of marshmallows, of course), but we can get fancier than that. Here's a recipe I found on (not that great of a site, but a good place to start getting ideas) for a surely wonderful concoction named Candy Cane Swirl:

1 oz. raspberry vodka
3 oz. red cranberry juice
.5 oz peppermint schnapps
.5 oz grenadine
A dash of lemon-lime soda
Peppermint candy canes (probably best to use those handy mini ones)

Crush up a few of those candy canes (leave one alone for now) and use to rim a martini glass. Combine the vodka, cranberry juice, schnapps and grenadine in a cocktail shaker with ice, then shake vigorously. Strain into the martini glass, and add the dash of soda to the top. Garnish with that extra candy cane.
